Boy Scouts of America
In 1907, Robert Stephenson Smythe Baden-Powell, an English army officer, invited a group of boys to Brownsea Island off the coast of England to attend the world's first boy Scout camp. Here he taught basic outdoor skills. Its success led him to write a book called Scouting for Boys. Thousands of boys read it and wanted to join the new organization. Scouting spread like wildfire throughout Europe and before long, around the World.
The Scouting movement came to America because an English boy led a lost American businessman through the foggy streets of London, and expected no reward in return. This so impressed him that on February 8, 1910, William D. Boyce and a group of businessmen, educators, and political leaders founded the Boy Scouts of America.
Troop 507 was originally chartered on back in 1910, and is sponsored by St. Mark's Catholic Church. See the History of the troop in the forums section. Our troop is inter-denominational, welcoming boys from every faith, race, and background. We participate in weekly meetings and monthly outdoor activities which have included camping, hiking, skiing, canoeing, biking, and community service projects.
Becoming a Member of Troop 507
Whether you are an adult or a young boy, the world of Scouting takes you hiking along trails, canoeing across great bodies of water, camping outdoors, observing wildlife and natural habitats. Scouting teaches you meaningful ways to help your family, community, nation and the world. Leadership positions teach you responsibility and to help other people at all times. All these experiences will help you mature into a knowledgeable and confident adult.
If you are a boy, eleven to seventeen years old and live in or around Kenosha, we invite you to come and visit Troop 507. If you are a Webelo Scout, we invite you to visit our troop and consider joining us when you crossover.

Hello everyone,
We are needed again at Bass Pro Shops - and I was told that they really appreciate our Troop and will miss us if we ever leave them.
On August 16 and 17 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM we are signed up to help as follows:
Kid's Archery Range: 1 or 2 needed
Kid's Fishing Pond: 8 or 9 needed
We will get $300 in gift cards for working this weekend.
Unfortunately we didn't get the Brat/Hot dog sales as it was taken before I could reply. Hopefully next time I'll be the first...

Announcement: Relay for Life

Kenosha's Relay for Life - Friday, August 1st. We need Scouts to help fill up bags with sand and place around the track - and lighting them later. Be there after 6 PM. We should have at least 8 Scouts for this service project. Not sure if they need their Scout shirts - at least they should wear their Scout t-shirt.
Thank you.

Is there a Troop Committee Meeting this Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.?
Or are we replacing this meeting with a "Plan the upcoming Calendar" meeting at the Scout room? (Bring your personal calendars if you want input into the Troop planning calendar (????))

Announcement: Gander Mountain Cookout Fundraiser
Posted: scoutmom @ Mon Jun 23, 2008 9:19 am
We are set for the Gander Mountain cookout fundraiser on Sunday, July 27th. We'll need to decide what to sell. Based on the experiences of other Scout troops who have been successful, brats and hot dogs are best. If we want to have name brand soda to sell - now would be the week to get some Pepsi products at Pick N Save - they are 5 12-packs/$10 and Mt. Dew is 4/$10. Otherwise, there's always Fanta.
Of course, there are all the other things like a grill to cook on, a table (actually, ...
